What is your best compliment you’ve received from readers or fans?
I write Christian fiction, so the greatest compliment I’ve had was from a woman who read A Musician’s Heart, Book One in the Hidden Veil Hometown series. She told me how much that story spoke to her, which is wonderful to hear when it comes to the desire to minister to God’s people through fiction. She didn’t go into detail, but part of the hero’s journey involves being open to where God is leading and not rejecting His will because we think it isn’t something we want to do.
Do you know the ending of your books when you write the opening chapters?
Well, I write romance, so I always know it will end with a happily-ever-after. My job is to get the characters to that point. I’ll usually have a vague idea of how that will happen, but I’m not an in-depth plotter.
Without sharing the ending, why did you choose the HEA or HFN ending in your latest book?
Great question. The heroine in A Horseman’s Mission deals with an intense fear for her son, who suffers from anxiety attacks. The hero suffers from guilt over his past behavior regarding his brother. I knew the climax would need to stoke that fear and guilt, so I put them in a position where that would happen and they would need to work through their issues.
